An invitation from one who loves Jesus
Jesus invited people to worship One God. So do we.
Muslims believe in Jesus (peace be upon him): his virgin birth, his miracles, his title of Messiah, his ascension and his return. We simply take him at his word when he said, “The Lord our God is one Lord.” This site gathers what the Bible and the Quran say about him - so you can judge for yourself.
Mark 12:29
“Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord.”
Jesus said: God is One
Matthew 4:10
“Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.”
Jesus said: worship God only
John 20:17
“I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.”
Jesus said: God is my God
Matthew 7:21
“...but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.”
Jesus said: do God's will
What does “Islam” mean?
Islam is an Arabic word meaning submission to God, and a Muslim is one who submits. It is not named after a man, a tribe, or a country. By this definition, every prophet was a Muslim: Abraham, who submitted to God’s command; Moses, who fell on his face before Him; and Jesus, who prayed, “not as I will, but as thou wilt” (Matthew 26:39).
To invite a Christian to Islam, therefore, is not to invite them away from Jesus. It is to invite them to Jesus - to the religion he practised and preached, before later councils redefined who he was.
Say, “O People of the Scripture, come to a word that is equitable between us and you - that we will not worship except Allāh and not associate anything with Him and not take one another as lords instead of Allāh.” But if they turn away, then say, “Bear witness that we are Muslims [submitting to Him].”
But when Jesus felt [persistence in] disbelief from them, he said, “Who are my supporters for [the cause of] Allāh?” The disciples said, “We are supporters for Allāh. We have believed in Allāh and testify that we are Muslims [submitting to Him].”
